Fate uses Fudge dice (dF) with faces showing +1, 0, and -1. Each face appears twice, so every die is equally likely to show −1, 0, or +1. A standard roll is 4 dice (4dF), giving a total from −4 to +4 that you add to your skill rating. Totals below −2 (Terrible) fall off the bottom of the ladder shown here.
